iPhone 16 Pro
An iPhone 16 Pro, picked up for its ProRes video features.
In the end of 2024 or so, I had some left over money that I could use for business expenses, and one of the things that I bought was an iPhone 16 Pro 256GB.
I was initially intrigued by the new video features that the phone brought, such as the internal ProRes 4K recording that could be done. At the time, I was at a gig where one person would check the video footage that he took on his RED camera and stream the output to his iPhone, add a LUT, and consult with the director.
The workflow just felt insanely cool — that they could instantly get feedback on how something might look in the end — and I wanted something like that creative process. To be able to do very professional shots on the fly.
Now, in reality it’s just better Instagram videos or something, but the ability to do so was just enticing to me, so I jumped for it.
Though I have been using a Mac for a while, I have some difficulty adjusting to the iPhone in some ways.
I had been using my Pixel 6a ever since they had mailed me one, as my Pixel 5a died without any reason one day in Kyoto.
